Made In USA Chimney Chase Covers

Our 304 stainless steel chimney chase covers are a piece of steel custom-made to seal off the top of the chimney in order to prevent moisture from seeping in. Chimney chase covers are shaped like the lid of a shoebox and are commonly installed with pre-fabricated fireplaces that have a wood-frame chimney chase. Some masonry chimneys can also use this style of chimney chase cover, which can also be called a “chase pan”. A cap is attached to the chase cover in the case of prefab chimneys and is attached directly to the brick of masonry chimneys. A chase cover is a metal cover that fits over your chimney chase (on chimneys with wood, metal, or vinyl siding) to prevent water from entering the chimney

Frequently Asked Questions About Chimney Chase Covers

A chimney chase cover (or chase pan) is the large metal sheet that covers the entire top of a wood-framed, factory-built chimney structure. A chimney cap sits on top of the actual flue pipe that extends out of the cover to keep rain and animals out of the exhaust system. You generally need both to fully protect a prefabricated chimney.
Orange rust stains are the number one indicator of a failing builder-grade chase cover. Most original covers are made from cheap galvanized steel, which eventually rusts when exposed to rain and exhaust gases. Once it rusts through, it allows water to rot the wood framing below.
304 Stainless Steel is the industry standard for replacement covers because it is completely rust-proof, extremely durable, and cost-effective. For high-end or historic homes, Solid Copper is an excellent premium choice that offers the same lifetime protection while naturally oxidizing to a beautiful patina.
Cross-breaks are the subtle, diagonal "X" creases pressed into the top of our custom covers. This slight slope is a crucial design feature because it prevents water pooling on top of the flat pan, directing rain straight off the drip edges instead.
Because every chimney is framed differently, we build our covers to your exact measurements. You will need to measure the outside length and width of the chimney structure, the diameter of the flue pipe, and the exact distance from the edges to the hole. Our covers are built slightly larger than your dimensions so they slide perfectly into place.
Yes. A storm collar is a metal band that wraps tightly around the round flue pipe, resting just above the welded collar of the chase cover. When sealed with high-temp silicone, it acts like an umbrella, preventing water from sliding down the side of the pipe and through the hole.
